Course Registration

This course is offered through the University of Virginia School of Continuing and Professional Studies and is a fully accredited course within the University of Virginia.

Undergraduate students in the Engineering School and the College of Arts & Sciences at UVa receive full credit for this course within their regular program study guidelines. For engineering students, the course counts as a science elective, and in some majors as a technical elective (if in doubt, contact your major advisor). Students from other Colleges and Universities may also take this course for credit. Please check with your local college for transfer credit decisions.

PHYS 252: You may register either online or by telephone. If you register online (the easiest way), the course material fee of $25 must be paid separately. Call 434-982-5319 to register by telephone.

PHYS 633: Because instructor permission is required for teachers (to make sure you have an appropriate background), K-12 educators must first obtain permission from Professor Thornton (email: stt@virginia.edu; phone: 434-924-6808) before calling the University office of the School of Continuing and Professional Studies by phone at 434-982-5319 to register.
